So Answers the Apprentice:
As promised, here is the return of our friend "The Back". And I'd also like to suggest to all you little aspiring artists out there,(not that I'm in any position to be giving you advice) this is an awesome and very helpful way of putting your shading skills to practise. You don't necessarily have to use naked people, but at least something that has a very solid form that you can understand. Then as long as there is an intense shadow, or light, on whatever you're using it will be much easier to draw. Have fun, and don't get me in trouble if your parents find you looking up naked people on the internet :( .
Read or Post a Comment
did you actually just draw that from your head?
actually no.
if I had drawn that purely from my imagination then I would be impressed with myself.
it was from a picture of a dude on the internet, of which I chose to selectively take parts out.
YES! i'm so excited to see this here! now i can come visit it whenever i want. good job phil!
this is my favourite.
it's amazing.
thanks guys, you make me feel warm and fuzzy inside :)
haha, i was looking through my picasso books, doin' some extra reading after my project...and i thought: whoahhhh! ive seen that sculpture before! wait...ive seen it copied into phil's sketchbook. hehe. nice job by the way. im gonna try it. maybe not the same. but i should really spice up my sketching with some /real/ realism.
it's probably a very common sculpture or viewpoint or something, I'm not going to assume that I'm the only person in the world that's done this so... there are most likely many "The Back" pictures drawn by many people all over the world in a way that would seem to be the exact same reference that I used for mine.
